4L60E Rebuild Kits for Serious Transmission Work

Professional-grade rebuild kits, overhaul kits, and heavy-duty internal components for GM 4L60E, 4L65E, and related applications. Find complete kit options for 1997-2003 and 2004-up builds.

Why Choose a 4L60E Rebuild Kit?

Replacing a full transmission can be expensive and often unnecessary. A properly selected rebuild kit restores transmission operation using fresh internal wear components matched to the original unit — clutch packs, steels, seals, bands, bushings, and filters. For work trucks, SUVs, daily drivers, and performance street builds, a quality 4L60E rebuild kit is often the most practical route to getting back on the road.

This comes with everything you need to rebuild a 4L60E transmission. It was the first one I've ever built. I'm a mechanic and never got into transmission. I watched a few videos and everything in this kit just went into place. My truck shifts like a dream so I'm super ecstatic over that. Quality of the parts were great and so far function properly after driving it for a month. Great value for the money. Would recommend!

Worked really well on my 2008 Chevy Silverado. 90% of the kit works, a few items in the kit are for the older models but so far 1500 miles no issues.

This is the best bang for your buck when it comes to a transmission overhaul kit. Fits a 2006 4x4 Silverado with a 4L60E transmission. Came with everything and anything needed to rebuild the transmission. Only thing I would recommend is a forward sprag but other than that this has everything you need!

Amazon Customer

This kit has everything you need to rebuild your 4L60E. The bushing kit isn't the greatest but it gets the job done. Would also be better if they replaced the cork pan gasket with a fiber gasket.

Who would have thought that with a kit from Amazon, a video on the internet, and a little help from the neighbor's cat you would be able to rebuild a transmission at home. My 2004 Suburban has been back on the road for several months now. Make sure the torque converter seats in properly. It should drop in three times. If it doesn't you will be taking everything apart again.

Reviewer

Great fit and complete as an OEM replacement and can not beat the price with fast shipping. Included everything needed and even a few extras to cover different options for other vehicles. I also ordered all of the electric solenoids and wire harness that are not included with this kit.

About 4L60E Rebuild Kits

A focused source for one of the most popular GM automatic transmissions

4L60ERebuildKit.com is a niche parts store focused on one of the most widely used automatic transmissions in the GM world — the 4L60E. The site is built for transmission rebuilders, experienced mechanics, performance builders, and hands-on vehicle owners looking for the right internal parts without sorting through generic catalog noise.

The 4L60E remains one of the most common GM automatic transmissions used across Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, and other GM applications. That popularity also creates confusion, because not every kit fits every year range, pan type, or build goal. 4L60ERebuildKit.com is designed to simplify that process — highlighting rebuild kits that match real-world transmission needs, from standard overhaul jobs to more demanding builds requiring upgraded friction materials, steel plates, pistons, bands, bushings, filters, and related internal wear components.

This is not a broad auto parts store trying to cover every category. It is a focused destination built around a specific transmission family, with product selection centered on rebuild quality, component completeness, and application clarity.

Who Uses These Kits?

  • Professional transmission shops and driveline specialists
  • Experienced mechanics rebuilding GM trucks and SUVs
  • Performance builders upgrading 4L60E internals
  • Advanced DIY builders working from service data and proper tooling

What's Typically Included

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about 4L60E transmission rebuild kits

4L60ERebuildKit.com is a niche online store focused on rebuild kits and overhaul parts for GM 4L60E transmissions and related variants. The catalog is built around transmission rebuild needs, with an emphasis on fitment-aware kit selection, internal wear components, and more complete rebuild solutions.

The store features 4L60E rebuild kits, master rebuild kits, super master kits, overhaul kits, and selected heavy-duty kit options. Depending on the product, kits may include friction clutches, steel plates, pistons, bands, bushings, filters, gaskets, seals, O-rings, thrust washers, and other internal service parts.

The main product is the 4L60E Transmission Super Master Rebuild Kit w/ Steels & Pistons 2004-UP. It is designed as a more complete rebuild package for 2004 and newer GM 4L60E transmissions and includes major internal wear components commonly replaced during a full rebuild.

This kit includes a 4L60E/4L65E overhaul kit, a Raybestos friction module with High Energy 3-4 clutches, a 22-piece steel module, a 3-piece molded piston set, a Borg Warner band, a 12-piece bushing kit, a thrust washer kit, and a deep pan filter. It is intended for rebuilders who want broad internal coverage in one package.

The 3-4 clutch assembly is one of the key areas of concern in many 4L60E rebuilds. A Raybestos High Energy 3-4 clutch pack is designed to offer improved heat resistance, more consistent engagement, and better durability than standard friction materials, making it a valuable upgrade in demanding rebuild applications.

Not exclusively, but many of the products are best suited to professional rebuilders, experienced mechanics, and advanced DIY builders who understand transmission disassembly, inspection, clearance checks, and correct assembly procedures. Proper transmission rebuilding requires technical knowledge and attention to detail.

The main focus is on the GM 4L60E, with additional coverage across related variants such as 4L65E and some 4L70E applications. Individual products may also fit specific year ranges or related transmission configurations, so fitment should always be reviewed carefully before purchase.

No. Fitment varies by year range, transmission version, pan style, and kit configuration. Some kits are built for 1993-1996 units, others for 1997-2003, and others for 2004-up transmissions. Choosing the correct kit is essential for a proper rebuild.

An overhaul kit usually focuses on gaskets, seals, sealing rings, lip seals, and similar service items. A master rebuild kit typically adds more internal wear parts such as friction clutches, steels, bands, filters, or bushings. A super master kit is generally a more complete package with broader internal coverage, often including pistons, steels, and additional hard-wear components needed for a more thorough rebuild.

Yes. Some products in the catalog include upgraded friction materials, enhanced clutch capacity, or heavy-duty component combinations intended for more demanding use. These options may be especially relevant for performance builds, towing applications, or rebuilders looking for additional durability beyond stock-style configurations.

Pan style affects filter type and overall kit compatibility. Some kits are built specifically for deep pan units, while others are intended for shallow pan setups. Using the wrong configuration can create fitment problems during assembly, so this detail should always be checked before ordering.

The 4L60E and related variants have been used in a wide range of GM vehicles, including many Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, and some Isuzu applications. These transmissions are commonly found in trucks, SUVs, vans, and certain performance-oriented vehicles, depending on the year and drivetrain setup.

A rebuild kit can be a practical and cost-effective way to restore a transmission when the rebuildable hard parts remain serviceable. It allows worn friction materials, seals, bushings, bands, filters, and other internal components to be replaced as part of a structured repair process, often at a lower cost than replacing the complete unit.

The store is built around a narrow transmission-specific focus rather than a broad parts catalog. That niche approach allows the product range to stay centered on 4L60E rebuild needs, including year-specific kits, more complete internal rebuild packages, and options that are more relevant to actual transmission service work.

Buyers should confirm the transmission model, year range, related variant, pan style, and product-specific fitment details before ordering. It is also important to review what the kit includes, since some packages are basic overhaul kits while others are more complete master or super master rebuild kits. Matching the kit to the transmission and the rebuild goal is one of the most important parts of the process.
